Mina the Hollower Map Guide: How to Unlock the Map, Underlab Upgrades, and Better Exploration

Why the Map Matters

Mina the Hollower does not give you a full map right away. At first, this makes exploration feel tense and mysterious, but it can also make the early game confusing. You will pass locked doors, suspicious rooms, unreachable chests, and routes that loop back later. Without a map, it is easy to forget where those places were.

The map is not meant to solve every secret for you. It gives you structure. Once you know how the island connects, you can make better decisions about when to push forward and when to return to older areas.

Step 1: Reach Ossex

After the opening section, your first major goal is to reach Ossex. Do not rush through town. Ossex is not just a safe area. It is where several early systems begin, including the Hollower’s Guild, shops, weapon upgrades, and map progression.

Talk to NPCs, check buildings, and pay attention to anything connected to the Guild.

Step 2: Enter the Hollower’s Guild

Find the Hollower’s Guild in Ossex and speak with Muriel. This starts the early Guild route and points you toward missing Guild members.

Before leaving, open the chest inside the Guild and take the free Kear. You will need it soon, and missing it can waste time.

Step 3: Rescue Rhene

Head south from Ossex into the Southern Outskirts and continue toward the Rebel Base. Bring at least one Plasma Vial and do not spend all your resources before entering.

The rescue route includes enemies, traps, switches, and escort-style movement. Clear enemies before rushing ahead. Rhene cannot move exactly like Mina, so open paths carefully and avoid leaving enemies behind you.

Step 4: Return to the Guild and Reveal Drillhardt

After rescuing Rhene, return to the Hollower’s Guild. The Guild becomes more useful, and you can reveal Drillhardt by burrowing under the strange mound.

Drillhardt is the key to Underlab upgrades. Once he is available, you can buy the Isle Map.

Step 5: Buy the Isle Map

Buy the Isle Map as soon as you reasonably can. It helps you understand Tenebrous Isle, plan backtracking, and remember which regions still need work.

If you are frequently lost, buy it before spending Bones on less urgent purchases. If combat feels too hard, upgrade your main weapon first, then return for the map.

Isle Map

This is the first major map upgrade and should be one of your early priorities.

Enhanced Map

Buy this later when you begin cleanup. It helps track region progress and missed collectibles.

All-Seeing Skull

This is more useful for completionists than beginners. Save it for later if you still need weapon upgrades or Trinket Bags.

Exploration Tips After Getting the Map

Do not try to fully clear every region immediately. Some paths are easier later with better weapons, Sidearms, Trinkets, or movement options.

When a route looks blocked, remember it and move on. Mina rewards backtracking. The map helps you return with the right tools instead of wandering randomly.
